I really need to start work now, for several reasons: to make money, to make me appreciate my free time, to meet other human beings.
People don't answer their phones here, what is the story with that? Its difficult when you've decided, here i go, im going to do the follow up to resume phone call, and you're all psyched up to sell yourself, and then, boo, another voice mail. And it doesnt help that i can never remember my phone number while i'm leaving the message.
I've registered with one temp agency, and am registering with another in the morning. I've said i'll work for $10+ which is a pittance - thats less than our minimum wage at home. The offers haven't rolled in yet, though hopefully i'll get some basic filing or data entry work for a while, to keep the wolf from the door. I felt a bit hard done by when considering my friends who've done well from temping, till I realised that these are people with really good useful office experience - I can't even do reception, and my typings fallen to 52 wpm according to my last test.
Telly: i have an interviewy thing on friday, well not really, cos they don't seem to have any positions open, but they were inviting resumes for technical posts anyway. So they want to talk to me 'to discuss my experience'. Fingers crossed i'll be som impressive they'll make up a post for me on the spot, cos its downtown and its a local channel, so it'd be good to know a bit about whats going on in Toronto.
Anything else i've followed up telly-wise has either been PFO or bleedin voicemail.
if this is really boring, please consider it me practising my typing skills!
