Boston, MA May 26/05

I’m struggling to remember what day it is, and what happened where. Mark’s computer is a little sickly, so we’re trying to rest it a bit til we get it to an apple doctor. So if I’m a little sketchy trying to catch up forgive me. And I'll thank you not to be using your baby daughter to guilt trip me Lisa. I've been handwriting the blog lately believe it or not.

The Paradise, Boston was a funny shaped venue. Very shallow – about 8 rows of people standing deep, but wide, with stepped benches up the side, like a church. I liked it, even though the place was pretty much full (600 capacity), it seemed intimate for want of a better word. The merch stall was out near the entrance, and we were closer to the front bar where there was a reggae band playing. So everytime the door to the main venue would open, we’d hear a horrible mash up of reggae and whoever was in the main venue. This was the last night with Aqueduct. Top lads altogether, and they would hang out by the merch stall a bit, so I’ll miss them.

Saw absolutely nothing of Boston, it was pissing rain and about 6pm when we got there. The weather has been pretty shit since we left the south, and my red skirt amongst other things is lying crumpled and forlorn at the bottom of my rucksack. Finally drank something other than free beer. Mmm vodka, you sweet nectar. ;)

We stayed with Ben, a friend of Dudleys, in Somerville. Check out his pope hats in the photos. He had a friend who was going on holidays to Rome, when he discovered he had to stay home for health reasons – so his friends threw him party and all wore these pope hats. Which I think was pretty cool (national enquirer article appeared shortly after mysteriously enough). Before I continue to the next post, let it be said for the fact, than Ben was a great guy and host. My feelings have been sullied slightly by the following day.

Jill, I am merely teaching my baby daughter how to nag. It is a skill much used in all its forms by all the female members of our clan and we're all very good at it so I just want to make sure I get her in training early. She's never too young to start learning such a valuable life skill.
