Kalamazoo MI May 29/05

Kraftbrau-Kalamazoo

This is Kraftbrau, i cut off the K with a telegraph pole...and that was before I started on their 10% stout. Oh god, this could be a long night. See, see how I had this pic posted before the gig even started. Now I must go hang up some tshirts in an enticing manner.

Kalamazoo Michigan, the next day

Wow. All I can say is wow. Wow what lovely people, wow what tasty beverages, wow what hangovers there are in the van today. You can see the pic of the Kraftbrau there, not much to look at, but what a room! Packed sold out show – there’s only a capacity of 300 so they sold off the guest list spots to the people that were queuing outside since 530 – none of the bands exactly knew too many people in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A great lady called Val helped us out with deadly food, all the drink we could manage. And she joined us on the Pinback bus after, but not before making almost everyone participate in a post-gig Kraftbrau tradition of Hosing. I recorded it all, I just need to figure out where to put the clips for you to watch… When I say almost everyone the only other last girl standing, Ryan’s girlfriend Courtney was being carried round the bar to take a go, and the others were chanting for me to challenge her. I know my limits, so I was having none of it, for which I’m sure Courtney will thank me for today! Lethal stuff. By the way I think Kenseth was the champion, followed by Mark. I’m so proud.

Pinback bus was wrecking our heads for a while after we got on - it seemed bigger somehow, much more spacious. Victoria was like ‘oh we cleaned up and threw some stuff out’ but no way, this was definitely bigger. So I went outside and looked at the bus from the front and sure enough, the whole right side was jutting out about a metre above the hold. Holy Magic Expanding Bus Batman! Only in Amerikay heh! Seen it all now.

For the 3rd night we robbed the Pinback hotel room, this time we totally lucked out, a shmancy Radisson, with beds from which we could not rouse ourselves at the appointed time this morning. We’re supposed to be going to see the White Sox this afternoon, but I don’t know how we’re going to manage to get there in time at all considering we’re somewhere near the Michigan/Indiana border right now and the game starts in 90 minutes. It may have been worth missing though for the high jinx of last night.

Tomorrow night is the Metro in Chicago, I’m looking forward to that one, but its hard to see despite the 1100 sell out crowd how it can top last night for jums (as Joss would say)

Mark and Dudley are sleeping off their hangovers - well Dudley might still be drunk – while Graham drives & I navigate. I think that means I can go asleep now too.

Bonne nuit yis feckers

ok kids - now we just want a post so that we know you're all OK - TDC gig diary not been updated since Cleveland, starting to get a mite worried on this end :(

...then again, you probably just enjoyed your well deserved day off instead of spending it on the internuts.

there you are now. theres one.

i'm tired and have a cumulative hangover from the last 10 days or so. The day off isn't the best idea in the world cos you kinda keep going on the buzz night after night. The second you stop its like jaaaaaysus i'm knackered now.
