i had lots of things to post about and photos to show this evening - Mound in the Mod Club on saturday night, the fantastic gay Pride parade yesterday, the frisbee fun on the beach last night, my first day at my new job... but it didn't quite go according to plan and now i'm too drugged to do anything but tell you I'll have to postpone my posting. I fell down the stairs on the way into said new job, and have spent the whole day up til about half an hour ago in the ER of Toronto General. I also paid $350 up front for the privilege of parking my ass and hurt back in their waiting room for that period. That supposedly was for us non-residents to see a physician. I saw a nurse, not even a doctor, and had no x-ray. Luckily I took a $7 taxi there and not a $240 ambulance. I'm in a good bit of pain, but I just have to take loads of ibuprofen, and I'm not to rest too much! Go figure. While I was there I had the foresight to chance my arm and ask very nicely for a 6 month prescription of the other yolk seeing as I was gonna have to go to the doc for that in a few weeks. Well done me. Now where's my overpriced Usit Travel Insurance documents...
*EDIT*
i've had a good sleep now so let me clarify - I'll be fine in 4 or 5 days, no bed rest for prescribed at all. They didn't seem too concerned, its just some bruising and strained muscles. I was completely winded this morning so breathing hurt an awful lot for a couple of hours, but that eased through the day. It was 5 steps, but I hit my back on the top one and bounced down the rest. When Mark rang to say I'd gone home they said those steps had been pointed out as dangerous to the building management before this incident. Thank fuck for Mark being at home, he refused to leave me in the hospital either the pet. All a bit embarrassing to happen on your first day though!

jesus christ! how many stairs was it? hope you'll be ok in the long run...i knows me some back pain, it's not cool - make sure you look after it proper.
Jiminy cricket Jill that's terrible. Well I hope you're alright because I wanted to hear about this new job. At least you'll have loads of time to blog, and thus, to amuse us?
Where is unemployed Mark on the blog?
Ohmigod - hope you are starting to feel a bit better. Is it insensitive to ask, but do you still have the job once you are better?
jaysus i better! it may have been bad karma getting me back for dumping my temp job...
Jillo you poor thing! Hope you're feeling better.
As KK said the silver lining in all this is obviously the amount of blogging you will be able to do as you recover. Although that is more of a silver lining for us....
the stairs had previously been noted as being dangerous?
lawsuit.
just think of all the effect pedals you could buy TBM with the milions you'd get.
off for my second 1st day now (hospital said go ahead) I'm only scarleh' going in today, which really isn't fair is it. It was their stupid stairs
I'd like to add my name to the well-wishers and "eek-are-you-alright" exclaimers, and my solidarity as a person who has had stairs-related hospitalisation (broke my toe falling up the stairs when I was 15.) Hope you're recovering and that the new job is fun!
