Let me just say - genuinely and without any of my general sarkiness and cynicism - that last sunday's Pride Parade made me happy to have chosen Canada as our destination. I have never been anywhere that has such diversity, acceptance and general warm fuzzy feelings as I experienced there. That, and oily male bodies in small amounts of shiny fabric. Ireland has a lot to learn, and as Bertie says, a lot more to do. That is an understatement. Dublin's Pride parade doesn't have a whole lot of representation from gay ambulance crews, gay police, gay First Nations (though I'm not sure Ireland has them straight or gay), gay Elementary Teachers Organisation.... Can you imagine! Pride celebrations are 25 years old this year in Toronto. Now, and I swear this is true...homosexuality was decriminalised in 1993 by the Fianna Fáil/Labour government under then Taoiseach, Albert Reynolds. At least we're moving forward.

Proud Police

Proud First Nations

Proud Ambulance crew

Proud Roman Soldiers (note: may not have *actual* military training)

Proud airline

Proud Queen. Aren't they all?

Proud in unforgiving lycra.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
Sigh. Where are them citizenship forms...

Young Men! There's no need to feel down! Y, M, C...and A
