belated weekend report

trip to kingston, ontario
harry potter
hangover
baseball

Just kidding. Of course I've photos, don't I always have photos. There's not many mind, and they're not of the highest quality.

Thinkum-Kingston-3
Thinkum + Craig (axe-slinger, new dad & jagermeister fanatic)
rockin the place with 'Lizzy covers.

This was the single most hottest bar I have ever been in. The air con was broked, there were lots of people. All very uncomfortable and added to by the fact that the (poor) barman was on his own in the whole place and it was his first night. The bar was a disaster, they ran out of vodka (probably my fault) so I asked for gin & tonic, got gin & soda and didn't have the heart to complain. Liam was behind the sound desk and went up to him 3 times to try and make him serve Mark, who waited a solid half hour for a drink. This isn't that unusual in Dublin, where you could be standing 12 across and 4 deep at the bar. Here there was no more than 7 or 8 people at the bar at any one time. One word: boobs.

Handily enough, Thinkum finished about 1150, so off we trotted to buy ourselves Harry. Happily we found a wee independent bookshop called 'Novel Idea' staffed by punks and a Dermot Corrigan doppelganger selling it for cheaper than the Chapters/Indigo behemoth up the street. There was not a child in sight.
scary-mark-excited
Mark was terrifyingly excited. Good thing there was no kids about,
they might have thought it was the Dark Lord himself.
booksellers
ah the angst there on the left. bloke on right is delighted to hear about his Irish twin that used to work in a bookshop though

and finally and randomly, isn't this odd? Liam and Mark seem to be back twins
back-twins

Now, if you don't mind, Mark has found a documentary called 'Emerald Shoes: the Story of Irish Dance' on Bravo so I'll be off to watch that now. I can see Pauline McGlynn simpering over an Irish sunrise scene right now in fact. Jesus, there's Albert Reynolds, what does he know about Irish dancing...

Dance halls and dog food. Albert's 2 main areas of expertise. Talented man...

it was the bartenders first night? ahhh, trial by fire then: Craig: "give us 8 pints of Keiths" - barman looks at me and Craig as if to say "but, but, you're only two guys..." - and then it was Monday...

sadly enough, i found that out about albert about 2 minutes later, he opened a bunch of dance halls. Then we watched Swimming Pool instead.

Marks very close to end, I'm about half way through HP6. Its verrrrry good.

Is Swimming Pool a tv programme or do you stick your head out the window and look at your swimming pool?

Is there an end of year prize for "most stupid comments"?

jill said...

Finished! Could be the best HP yet. Deffo tied with 3 as my favourite so far. Genuis.

If there was a prize Lisa, that comment would definatly be in the running. Swimming Pool is an Anglo-French film and is very good.

Any I go in for orientation to this company tomorrow. They just called.

is "genuis" french for "time for some fresh air"?
