It's taken me a while to get myself together to post today, but having just consumed the above (cinnamon french toast with fresh fruit & maple syrup made by moi) I feel I'm ready.
Yesterday me and mark hung out in the sun a bit. We ate icecream that suspiciously resembled shit on a cone but was yum. I'll be going back for more, cos y'know what - ben & jerrys cones are about $5 and that is scandalous altogether.

Nathan Phillip's Square is looking pretty good this summer. A couple of weeks ago we went to a huge artdoor art exhibition there, and then this weekend there's an African Dance Festival on, which I jiggled my little white ass about to a bit. It's a nice space, and parts of it, like the floating garden you can see in the photo, are individually great. But then there's these vast bits of concrete and lawn that go nowhere and serve nobody. It's not bad though, as front-of-city-hall spaces go. And the watery gardeny bit is an ice-rink all winter, so that's bonus points cos Dublin will never manage that!

I love this ad. Love it. I have to share it. I say Yo Where's My Ice Floe every time I pass it in my head in the voice that I think the polar bear would have.
Last night was the Thin Lizzy Tribute night. I grudgingly paid to see Mark & friends playing, but then I realised that I may now own a small fingernail on the Philo statue. Well, the cuticle maybe. There was a recorded message from Philomena Lynott. She's a bit mad, but so sweet really. She thanked all the bands playing individually (in a very meandering fashion), and sent over personally signed certificates for each of them (and Graham got his own!) to say that they had contributed to the Roisin Dubh Trust for de statue. Bless! I took photos but they were crap, so I might wait til I can scan it so you can see it in all it's glory.
There was also a raffle. You could win laminated Philo placemats, all the way from Ireland (no, really!) and a giant picture of Philo. Megan won the star prize so then the lads got to pose with it. Doesn't Graham look super-happy to now be the proud possessor of this artwork?

Maybe I'll bring it home and get a big picture of Rachael's Phil (that's weird, the 2 Rach(a)el's I know are going out with Phil's, that just struck me now), that is Rachael Ryan's Phil Bacon, and superimpose his head on the picture.
Between me and Megan we filmed the Thinkum set, I'll stick up the FTP address as soon as we have one. It is a sight to behold, they rocked! Some ladies stopped me in the bathroom to say how amazing Damian sounded too...so good job! There was a good mix of bands, some great, notably the more metal versions imho. I couldn't stick it out past band number 9 though so I went off home 'to blog' because apparantly now that is the only feasible reason Damian can see for me ever leaving, so I just say that to be let go in peace and ooops. now I've blown my cover.
