Very Important MIT lark, or, A Quiet Monday Evening

If you're a blogger too, do this. Then you get a cool sticker to put on your blog like I have further down on the right. Mark puts cool band/venue/pedal maker stickers on his guitar case, I collect stickers for my blog.

I start Pilates on wednesday, or rather try it out and make sure it won't kill me. Fingers crossed, or there'll be no spending a month in a van driving round the US for me. (note: there was a joke, however clumsily put it wasn't intended to offend)

It's feckin' roasting today, but freeeeezing air con in the office. How is a lady supposed to dress at all? 29 in Dublin (and that's Dublin, Ireland not Texas) today though, which must be some kinda record cos I don't remember any summer's day that good in Dublin in my time. Which isn't that long as far as weather records go I suppose. I bet there's thousands of lobster coloured people wandering round on tuesday. I've developed a pretty sensible sun cream habit in the last month or so, still not as good as it should be, but I try.

Little Britain finally started on Showcase here a couple of weeks ago. I get to go around saying 'I want that one' like mad Andy now.

Oh, and further to that picture of Ross - Mum tells me that there was a photo in the Irish Independent today of them all, some of them had fallen over in the sun. It's not on the site, so if anyone has that, and could scan it or something that would be good. Cos Ross is in that too, he's the boss man so he wasn't allowed move. Mark wondered how 4 of them passing out (so the ma says) in an hour and a half in the sun reflected on the Irish Defence Forces. Well, it's a good thing they don't fight then, but then I'm not sure you'd be wearing full dress uniform in a tropical or otherwise war zone.

As a veteran of Tampa and Sydney weather, the solution to the summer work attire problem (roastin' outside/freezin' outside) is as follows - a cardigan permanently on the back of your chair and wear trousers not a skirt to work. The problem with the skirt is if you wear stockings/tights its too hot outside and if you don't its too cold inside. Hence why you have to wear trousers, a medium weight top and a cardigan in work at all times, so it can be worn when required.
The other solution is to work some of the crazy hours that I do, so that when you start work and leave work its dark and not very hot, so you don't face that problem (*not the recommended approach)

Well I think the ones who fainted were cadets. So maybe there's some sort of anti-fainting technique that they teach you when you get commissioned.

Same temps again today (24-30). Haven't seen too many lobsters yet.

what would be even worse would be to be one of those Beefeater guard type cats with the big f*ck-off shaggy black wool hats...the things would be like furnaces.
fainting from heat exhaustion or sunstroke = not good - i hope those cadets are ok.

I have the photo. Will scan and send it tonight. Ross is making a very good show of ignoring the whole thing but the poor bloke in the photo fainted forward straight onto his face without breaking his fall. Oouch.
