Phoenix...

... is hotter then the sun. The heat is insane, just under 40 degrees. The show in Albuquerque wasn't well attended. It was a Monday and they put three touring bands on the same bill so the local interest was zero. Enjoyed the other two bands though, Model Down are a scratchy garage rock band from Boston, and American Plague, the last band, were shit kicking rock narrowly for Nashville. Hit the road straight after and ended up in a tacky casino-hotel in Sky City NM.

The drive today was breathtaking. I took the first stint today. About 3 hours into it I pulled in for petrol about 50 miles from Flagstaff AZ, it was pricey so we only put in $10 worth, just enough to get us to the next reasonably priced station. So I got back on the highway to notice that the full gauge hadn't changed. Fearing the car was acting up we pulled into another gas station and got a few dollars to check. The gauge went up. So back we go to gas station number 1 to give out. And give out I did, to a man with 2 teeth. The checked the pump and it worked so basically we were diddled out of $10 worth of gas. Crappy. And it would return to haunt us, kinda.

A few miles later me and Joss swapped, and I claimed into the back. I was lying down watching some stuff on my laptop and enjoying the view. 3 hours flew buy and we were entering Phoenix when it was pointed out the we were about to run out of gas. Our van has a 'miles to go' read out and we had 7 miles left. We hit traffic on the freeway and started to panic. '4 miles to go', we get of the freeway and look for a station, '1 mile to go' and we spy a station HUZZAR!!!! Eh, no. They were out of gas. The fucking petrol station was out of gas.... with 'zero miles to go' we limped back onto the street and prayed. Luckily another station hoved into view. Disaster no. 2 narrowly averted, disaster no. 1 was Dudley getting hit by an unmanned car in Chicago by the way.

So, we're here and I'm about to have a beer.
