moosic noos

We went to see Ted Leo & The Pharmacists in the Mod Club last night. It was oodles of fun. TL is a very sweaty man from the get-go. The drummer looked like he was asleep from the neck up, but was amazing so that looked odd. This is an official good gig week in Toronto as Mark's off to Bob Mould on sunday night. We were also supposed to go to Antony & The Johnsons but it sold out by the time I got back from US, and ticketmonster.ca doesn't accept our Irish credit cards and Marks plea for our Toronto "friends" to go get us some tickets please fell on deaf ears. I am doubly disappointed since yesterday when Anne made us listen to CocoRosie and I instantly fell in love with them and then she says that they are playing with A & the J's. They were going to see that line up in Montréal last night. If only we had a time machine.

(*note*: i've just seen that CocoRosie are playing TBA in Dublin on december 3rd...so if any of my real "friends" would like to pick me up a ticket to that when its confirmed, that would be great thank you)

So, some of you may remember my semi aborted attempt to learn bass in 2004. Me and a guy I worked with were even going to form a Level 42 tribute band, Level 43, we did alot of high up air bass practice. I say semi, because it was not lack of enthusiasm but 3 things that prevented me really getting into it: 1) Mark's bass, and most basses probably, being long and heavy and my left arm been all stretched out made it harder. Not that I'm exactly a Thalidomide baby or anything, but I'm a bit ickle. 2) I spent most weekends from mid-February on in Wexford/Waterford so when I was in Dublin I had better things to do, like hang out with my friends. 3) Mark & I lived apart for our last couple of months in Ireland so I had no bass to play with.

Excuses no more! I am now (well i pick it up monday) the proud owner of short scale bass, and a model best suited to ickle beginners, that is, 12 year old boys, and me.

Hurray, can I be in your band, I'm starting singing lessons on Monday?

I'm sure Mal would manage us.

ya know jill,
this means you and mark HAVE to return to Canada because as you are well aware, D.O.R are without a bass player...and we'll all miss you. awesome bass!!!

oh my goodness i've found the key to the magic band circles...it was under my nose all the time. Now you all have to convince mark to do a bit of teaching cos he refuses too.

Levon i don't know if I could ever top Ninja Boyfriend.

mals idea of managing might be a little football oriented for my liking!
