San Francisco, Saturday 3rd September, Jill

Up at 8am. This lone tourist lark is hard work. Getting loads done though, there's a lot more procrastinating as a couple. ie. i like to get up earlier and do stuff, and mark is on his hooooolidaaaays...5 more minutes please.

I got to get the really old cable car up hill and down dale to the bike shop. They're so cute and old fashioned, but really not for rain or wind or snow. And at $5 a trip, not really for locals either I'd say. I didn't do the guided bike tour, decided to do it self-guided. So off I whizzed thinking, thinking I'd left the hills of SF behind me. Not really. The cycle is pretty challenging, very up and down hilly. And it was kinda grey and a bit windy. Still I enjoyed it thoroughly, even if I was wishing for gloves half way across the Golden Gate Bridge. Now, here's the thing. SF has these crazy little micro-climates. No sooner had I made my descent in to the incredibly picturesque (read: very posh and expensive) Sausolito than it was blue skies and beating down sun. You look back across the bay and SF itself is shrouded in fog.

after an unexpected shopping spree in the couple of big stores that arent in canada/ireland i was lighter of wallet, endowed with new smalls and tops... and some dark bronze cowboyish boots that spoke my name out loud 3 times as I passed them by. I only went in there to use the restroom, and a loving relationship between me and a boot was born. Ah.

Sunday we spent mostly tooling around in the van doing various visits and eating a vegan feast (woot!) and a trip to Amoeba Records, which, with a discretionary spending budget of $0 left could do nothing for me. Having said that if someone had given me some munso to spend there it would have evaporated instantaneously and I would have been 1 million cd's better off. It's probably a good thing, the van is pretty tightly packed and I think with the new boots I've had my quota of space filled! Maybe if I just throw out the bosca...

okay, i havent really had time to catch my breath let alone blog, and i want to get this up before we head off to Salt Lake City, 11 hrs from here. I have lotsa photos though so they'll come in a seperate post.
