make mine a little mojito there carlos luv

Cuba. Coo bah. We're off there 3 weeks tomorrow. Yay. The weeks are flying by though, its kinda scary. I was a bit bowled over by how different even the general package holiday experience is to booking in Europe. And that's before we've even gone on the trip. Hmm, let me try make that clearer: For a start, all packages seem to be all-inclusive. They also seem to not really let you out of the resort / resort area unless you are carefully shepherded in an organised trip. Such trips include driving around looking at poverty from a jeep. Sort of like a slum safari. You are encouraged to bring clothes you don't want, small presents for kids to leave for the maids, and to leave your half empty bottles of shampoo behind. My sources range from the whiners and honeymooners on Trip Advisor to personal accounts to the wouldn't-been-seen-dead-on-a-package-holiday independent travellers of the Lonely Planet forums. What happened to the book 2 days before you go and the only thing you have to worry about is driving on single lane two-way bridges with no sides (Kefalonia) package holidays of Europe? Whatever our hotel is like, its quite old (pre-revolution) and is meant to have more character than any of the newer ones, and most importantly - the best beach in the whole area, if not Cuba. So I'm really looking forward to our trip. All I have to do is locate a bikini now - which is proving surprising difficult seeing as the Canucks love their winter sun.

This weekend, in a few hours actually, we're off to the not so glamourous resort of Barrie, Ontario...now known the world over as the site of this years Live Aid yolk. Mark, Graham, Damian & Craig are recording some songs up in Liam's studio there before Marks departure brings the mighty Thinkum crashing to the ground. So i will not be internetting over the weekend. I will probably most likely drinking a lot and watching dvds. And why not?

Thinkum will never crash to the ground. It will live in our hearts (and unspeakable sexual fantasies) forever.

You'll LOVE Barrie, Jill - what little of it you'll see from the opium den that is Liam's basement, that is...

internacional - its old, but its got the best beach. varadero - i know its the big tourist trap, but i really want to get to havana and thats the best resort area within a decent distance. Seems pretty easy to get the bus from there. Besides i love the beach and i want my last bit of rnr before the horrible irish winter / job hunt / moving to finglas.

turns out liams gaff has wireless after all. happy days.

Up above I obviously meant "where in cuba?" rather than "where is cuba?". I do know where cuba is. Anyway, Havana is a great place to visit ...
