well now that was fun. drunken, pitchers of cocktails, glasses breaking, no taxis at 4am fun.

I love the Lord Edward. It is the perfect pub I think. I felt really happy to be home last night, i felt at home. Almost all my favourite people were there. Some of Mark's aul rock buddies turned up and all but one of the former residents of Meath Terrace (missing Paula McG). There was funny blog related moments. James saw KK and said "is that KK? wow this is like the telly" And they met. Now I have met James a good few times BC (before Canada) but wouldn't say i knew him at all. But now, due to his infrequent but lovely comments on here during the year I am very well disposed to him indeed. And apparantly he got in trouble with de missus for looking at Raymi's blog there in the links in a sort of who-is-this-person-do-you-know-her kinda way. He offered to pay for our flights back to Canada. I think that may have been directed at the sharp downward slide in blog quality in the last few weeks!

So there was many pints consumed and by gum they were gorgeous. Ooo and hot port! Yum! Fiona also managed to knock over most of her very first drink. Funnily enough by 230am she was keeping seabreezes upright no problem.

think Dermot was laying down the law to KK there.

obviously the best decision of the night was that we needed to drink more and so went on to the Sugar Club, where there was a guy wearing a scarf on the dancefloor; now, that doesn't seem so hilarious this afternoon, but we got much mileage out of it.

So yeah, the glasses. The ones you wear not drink out of. For the first time in many year, I actually have to wear my glasses. (eye lasery assesment coming up) So a teeny screw picked this very inopportune time to leap out and thus dislodge the right lens from its home of several years, that is, in front of my right eye. But god bless mark (seen here selflessly being Rachael's armrest)...

...he procured a light of some sort (phone?) and scuttled about on hands and knees and found the errant lens for me. Anyway, I couldn't wear them I was very disorientated. It's one thing to try and get a taxi in Dublin at 4am, another to not actually be able to see cars.

right I have run out of steam. i think i need to lie down.

yeah yeah, sure, you think we're not partying it up in toronto without you? you think we're all just buying cases of Stella and locking the doors and cooking potato soup and watching family guy and simpsons re-runs, and avoiding the -13 snow squalls and hibernating? cuz that's TOTALLY not what we're doing! definitely not. nope. no way.

Hey Jill, sorry I didn't make it in on saturday, was out playing with de new niece in Leixlip (albeit there not being many games you can play with a three-month-old). Looks and sounds like it was a great night. The pictures make me almost a little nostalgic for the cosy crevasses of Meath Terrace and all who lived within the crumby (crumbling?) walls! Welcome home and hope to catch up with you before Christmas. Like the blog by the way.
