i have a '7-day rambler' bus ticket these days. It's opening my eyes anew to the world of Dublin Bus. People have gone mad, descending in to animal-like behaviour all over the gaff. Take last night for 2 random bus trip examples. We were getting a bus from College St to Rathmines. A very disorderly 'queue' smushed up against the bus as the driver opened the doors. Now, even de Northsiders that get the 40 know that there are 2 distinct bus enterers - the prepaid ticket holder, and the cash paying foolahs. Well, the patrons of the 15 all pay cash it seems, and they all try and get on the bus in one go. Go on sure you lot, all stand in a gang and wait impatiently as Johnny Southsider in front of you extracts the last few pennies from his pocket fluff, or some tourist tries to pay with a note. Never mind us well prepared people with our prepay tickets trying to get on and make the whole public transport thing work faster and smoother for all.
2 hours later. Waiting on Dorset St, having got off an 11, waiting for a 40. Almost caught in a melee between a cranky granny with an undoubtably racist undertone and 3 boisterous late 20'sish black blokes. They had the audacity I tell you to dare and talk - on a busy street at a bus stop - in voices that were not hushed. The old lady walked past all the other people waiting there to tell them they weren't deaf and to be quiet or something like that. She was mad annoyed with them she must have dropped stitches in her knitting earlier or somethng. But jaysus, they went mental back at her. And she went mentaller at them. Then our bus came. They didn't deserve it. But nor did she. Lads & old ladies, if you're reading this blog, which no doubt you are: relax.
Today in my public transport adventures I got a 40, a Luas tallaght-bound, an 83 and another 40, all without incident. Phew.
*recommended reading for this entry.
Started a new pilates class tonight. I will detail the pain tomorrow.

I was a stupid tourist in Dublin and got on the bus going the wrong way.
Thank goodness the driver was very, very helpful and very, very understanding.
I never did figure out the city buses but I managed to make it round the country alright.
Yo J-Lo what has ya getting "a 40, a Luas tallaght-bound, an 83 and another 40" all in one day?
Dublin Bus are priiiiiiiiiiiiicks.
40 to work.
luas to pilates (didn't want to be late 1st day)
83 from church st to phibsboro, 40 from there home.
(i may be inheriting a bike though fingers crossed)
Busing is the worst sport you can do in Dublin: You always lose.
Waiting, waiting, waiting again and always being late (if you don't take it 2 hours in advance).
