the beach the doggies

today, we went to the beach. its an area down around queen east. Its really chilled out there, and walking on snowy beach is kinda cool. Wore my runners instead of boots tho which was silly, because its about 3 or 4 degrees and the snow was gone a bit slushy. I wondered for a while how there were so many houses built right down to the sand practically, then you look out at the beach, and see that the water is perfectly calm. Duh, its a lake. Phil would hate it, no surfing at all.

It was all very tranquil, but as mark pointed out this morning, itll be great when we can go out in tshirt, and looking round the Beach, id say it'll be jammers come that time. I'll be there with my sunnies and my book though you can bet your bottom dollar. So we went to eat in the Sunset Grill, a place reccomended in the Time Out Toronto guide. Sometimes we're just better off playing the total tourist when we're getting to know the 'hoods of toronto. It was yum, marks peameal bacon looked beauts now i have to say, but i enjoyed my belgian waffle fruit salad natural yogurt combo too (with lashings of maple syrup)

the doggies were out in force for their weekend constitutional's aswell. Theres loads of big dogs, and they all seem well behaved. there was this massive alsatian waiting out side starbucks for at least 20 minutes. (we were in a next door shop all the while) its a dog friendly city, you can bring them in a lot of places (not starbucks*), so its in the owners interest to train them. And clothes for dogs are pretty much the norm, you know the way you only see old ladies with terriers in tartan jackets in ireland, well its not like that. and fair enough, its pretty cold for our canine mates. I'd say theres rivalry, you've got some spaniel thinking he's the shit in his Roots fleece (v. practical lisa - http://www.copperboppers.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16658&cat=&page=), then some gay dog comes by totally doing Toronto fashion week with 4 little silver runners on him, and you can see the spaniel thinking is his owner ever going to get queer-eyed and dress him up nice aswell...

*starbucks is a loada $5 coffee bollocks. tim hortons is where its at. dunno their dog policy though

jesus mary and saint joseph in heaven look at this... http://www.pawpalaceonline.com/ (i quite like the hoodys though)

Thats it now for today. go and amuse yourselves.

do you reckon that we will be able to go to the beach when we come and visit at the end of May? What should the weather be like then?

Lads, it sounds like you're going to have loads of visitors, have ye thought of getting onto the Canadian tourist board for a bit of commission!

I particularly like the "Sparkling Bow Barrette - Peridot" on the paws palace site but as our dogs are both boys that really would be a bit gay. The dog hoodies are pretty good but I'm guessing these Toronto dogs don't do much running around mucky gardens in their spare time.

au contraire - a woman in work was moaning about her dogs running in from the melting snow-mucky garden the other day - i told her she needs a 'holding area' like you have! People are advised to only let their dogs out a specified amount of time in particular temperatures tho so it is more controlled.

dont worry you're dogs have some (straight) style winging its way to them as we speak.

Jill, I can't believe you are buying doggy presents. Lisa, I will buy presents for Ella but refuse point blank to buy anything for the dogs !!

Sinead wipes her dogs feet with a towel before she lets her through the back door. Not a bad plan. The dog collars arrived and yes they are straight! Emma, don't worry, only Jill would buy doggy presents.. she's going to adopt Muttley when she comes home...
