today im doing something different in work- im manning the walk-in donations desk in the sick kids hospital. Wow. they'd be jealous in crumlin im telling you. Its this purpose built for kids hospital, everything is bright colours and covered in murals. Im in an atrium part so its all open in the middle and i'm looking up at 8 floors, and theres 3 giant cartoony cows on trapezes hanging down the middle. And theres yellow great glass elevators.
My only problem is that theres a burger king in the hospital. Theres a starbucks, roots, body shop, shoppers drug mart, tim hortons, subway (like a mini mall it is in parts), but burger king is the one that kids will want as a treat, and what parent can say no to a sick child? Besides im sure theres some kids in here for obesity related stuff, and its not great to be shoving a burger king outlet in their face as they waddle down the corridor to their clinic.
Anyway, i've full internet access and no donations so far. I have the paper in my bag, but it might be too bold to get that out. All i've done is point people to the information desk cos i cant answer any hospital related questions, i dont ever know where the loo is. Sorry, restroom.

that hospital sounds the same as one of the ones in the movie 'Supersize Me' where he was giving out because McDonalds were at the hospital
Jaysus I feel all sorry for Crumlin, I'd nearly be inclined to pick up my paintbrush and go down. The Burger King is a little extreme though.
Well McDonalds sponsor the house where parents of sick children can stay for free in the grounds of Crumlin. It's called Ronald McDonald house. Friends of Monica's from Cork had to stay there recently & were really grateful to be so close to their baby and felt ever so slightly guilty that they've been avoiding McDonalds for years. Don't think they'll be feeding the child McDonalds all the same...
no, dont feel bad, this is what they do - take some of the huuuuge profits they make from cutting corners all over the shop and then give a bit of it to charity to create a warm fuzzy glow around them golden arches of evil.
