All these posts are getting mixed up. I wrote this one after the Visalia gig on Friday night. Good luck with keeping up! M.
When we played Phoenix the other night we played with a band from Houston called Bring Back The Guns (BBTG). They were pretty intense and put on a great show. Friendly chaps too. And it turns out we were on the bill with them in Visalia too. The had said to us that the shows in Visalia were always well attended and we'd shift loads of merch. We showed up at Howie & Sons and instantly got nice food and beer. Good start. We went for a bit of a wander to check out the local mall, and when we returned the room was full of people waiting for the rock. Sweet! The promoter Aaron had his band playing the opening slot, then BBTG, then us. We were well fed and looking forward to the rock. Howie & Sons is a Pizza restaurant, in the evenings the stack the tables away and put on shows. Why don't more places do things like this. So it came our turn, I used the BBTG bass amp as my borrowed one hasn't got the power to fill a room this size without help from the PA, and I was told the PA couldn't take it. We played really well and got loads of whoops and hollers. I found it tough to get into because the sound onstage was really bad. The bass amp was massive, about 6 ft high. and it was really loud. The PA was way two small and the room cavernous. The amps were competing with the drums and vocals were lost. We did great on the door receipts and later, crashed in the promoters house. Aaron and his wife Stephanie both look 25 years old (they're 30 though), are both teachers and have 3 kids under 5 and a really nice house. The have a skateboard half pipe in the back garden. I get jealous of people who seem to have their shit together so well.
